That is the second time ... Carnival... to be exact, has left a ship stranded days from land on a voyage of the damned. I have been on "Carnivore" before, and they are an O.K. cruise line. However they are far from the best. They actually had a backup system, but were afraid to turn it on for fear it would also catch fire and they would not be able to stop it. That is why I think a turbine would have made a difference. Those ships draw a whopping amount of power as well as drive the ship on electric engines. While CPST does not have that kind of muscle, it would have allowed for way more power to at least keep things working better.
