The news release says that there is unsuitable & under-performing soil in Hawaii. Reduced farmland due to development and huge costs of shipping food may be forcing them to reclaim all possible soil to feed growing population. Pass the higher costs of getting over there on to the consumer and get the state to cut you sales tax break, etc.
