Looking in a rearview mirror will not necessarily produce a good prediction.
It's as if timing laps run by a race car with a faulty engine and then after the engine has been repaired predicting that the speed cannot improve and pointing to your previous timings as evidence.
In the case of NNVC the entire engine has been rebuilt and the car has new tires and is refueled. So I don't care at all what the long list of previous timings were. They just don't mean anything now.
