Tate - Sorry ... but I know you can dig up links to support your theory ...... and all I have to go by is having lived for two years in one muslim country (Algeria) and travelling extensively throughout Africa and some of the Middle East, including Tunisia, Morocco, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Liberia, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Cameroun, C.A.R., Burkina Faso, Zaire (DRC), Congo-Brazzaville (lived there 3 years) ....... not all muslim countries, no, but significant muslim populations in most.
Through my own experiences of being spat upon, time after time, having my car stoned, time after time (and rocks thrown at me), being 'hostage' in an embassy for several hours with mobs outside carrying caskets on their shoulders and chanting death threats, chased on the streets by groups of men with sections of steel pipe, and generally just being treated like dirt .... simply because I was an 'infidel' American and a non-moslem ........ doesn't exactly go very far toward generating a willingness to accept the words of some liberal professor who, for all I know, has never been outside of this country. This is especially true given that I saw the photos of the dancing in the streets that occurred in the middle east after 9/11, and having witnessed year after year of continued terrorist attacks by the Palestinians on Israel's civilians, women and children.
To me a Jihad is, and will remain, a so-called 'holy war'... until/unless I see a difference in the actions of the perps ... not a difference in their words.
Call me what you will. I don't care. But I won't forget that every single one of the 9/11 perps was a mulsim, nor will I forget the maltreatment I knew from muslims. I hope you never have to ...
