According to Merriam-Webster's

jihad...

1. a holy war waged on the behalf of Islam as a religious duty.

2. a crusade for a principle or belief.

You're wrong. Big surprise.

Sorry, tate, but Jihad, while it means striving for moral and religious perfection, seeks to attain such by either converting infidels or killing them, thus attaining a perfect world. In literal translation, Jihad is holy war. In Palestine, Islamic Jihad is one of the most militant of the terrorist groups, or did your reading of the news leave that part out?
Just for your further education, from Dictionary.com:
Jihad-A Muslim holy war or spiritual struggle against infidels.
A crusade or struggle: “The war against smoking is turning into a jihad against people who smoke” (Fortune).
