There's another reason this data is continually posted and it has zero to do with a short conspiracy.

they are obviously trying to scare away new investors. It appears to be working too.

What reason is that?
I dont think it really has anything to do with short conspiracies.

The FINRA numbers are "fraudulent" for the sake of this argument.
There is only one reason I can think of that anyone would state fraudulent info.
It doesn't matter if it is Scott, Finra, or me that posts the info. The only reason to post fraud is to defraud others.

The funny thing about it is it doesn't matter which side of the argument you are on. Everyone agrees that Finras SRSRs short reports (naked or otherwise)are a fraud.
Posting them as actual information is a fraud. Anyone who says there are shorts in any amount of any type is also a fraud if they are posting fraudulent info.

The Finra short numbers are simply the amount of shares traded that need to have their certs transferred to another broker.
Since a short sell is any sale you do not have the shares for.

People tend to think "not having the shares" means you borrow them etc. Nope. You do not have a share if you do not have a cert.

If you use Etrade and sell your shares technically you are short since you do not have the cert in your had to transfer to the buyer.

Naked shorts by their nature are not able to be seen proven or recorded. ANY claim that they exist is opinion. Any "proof" is fraudulent.

It is sad that the board members except the constant rain of short information. IMO the subject of finras short report should be deleted as spam here.
