It was interesting to listen to Sen Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) today claim that current gun laws have protected this nation WHILE news from Alabama today report that a man with a gun boarded a school bus yesterday and demanded a 6-year old leave the bus with him - when the bus driver refused, the guy shot the bus driver dead.
Repub senators on this Committee are doing their best to defend the NRA but Wayne LaPierre is making it extremely difficult for reasonable people to defend the NRA's unreasonable position to keep ALL guns available to ALL people...Witness the exchange between LaPierre and Sen Dick Durbin (D-IL) when LaPierre said - at approx 12:00noon - that high-capacity assault weapons should be available to protect people against the government...Sen Durbin could hardly believe what he was hearing, and he asked the MD police chief on the panel what he though of LaPierre's comment - the chief was speechless! Hopefully news coverage of this hearing will show that exchange - it is exactly what gun-loving extremist claim, and now we know where they get this sick idea!
