I usually play via my 401k which has funds exclusively for participants and no trading fees.

Futures use is not the only problem when trading foreign funds. Many of them will charge you a 1% fee if you sell quickly.

Vanguard has a number of foreign funds which seem to do what they should. And there are no trading fees for the most part. HOWEVER they limit you to 2 exchanges out of a foreign fund every 18 months. And they will not let you place an order for a foreign fund after 2:00 PM

I used to trade WPEMX and WPMFX -- two Credit Suisse international funds. They had no fees but banned me for excessive trading. These might be good bets IF they still have no fees and you do not trade too much.
