I will say that not 100% of the rumors are bad, only most.

Very competitive, once it has a 64-bit OS and plenty of hardware and software optimizing, but it doesn't beat everything. I think Itanium has a long way to go towards optimization, but the architecture has a lot of headroom left. Plus, what will we see later this year? 50% faster Itanium 2 with more cache, but only 25% faster Opteron? An even bigger question is when will x86-64 ported software get out of beta? AMD may have impressive unofficial scores, but users of SAP are going to demand full production results, and usually support from the larger OEMs.
