I wouldn't put too much stock into this score without knowing a lot more about the development/stability of the drivers and the OS. Not to mention that it's a VIA chipset, and their first effort at HT-AGP interface. I'd be a lot more concerned if it were an nVidia chipset with that sort of score. Time will tell.

yourbankruptcy, this is why Athlon 64 is postponed until September

Did you notice the clock speed of the CPU? We´re still only at 1,6 Ghz! That´s the real concern.

Opteron has first to storm the blade rack-server market, trash Itanium and Xeon, then slowly, slowly start to compete with P4 on desktop. That will be a challenge.

Yes but right now on this benchmark it competes with a less than top of the line PIII. We were promised the highest performance processor in the world but delivering it is a bit more difficult than promising it.

Are you saying that this is a requirement for Opteron's success? Does it need to beat Itanium to be successful?
