The distinctive granite gneiss of Thorpe Creek (dated as late Eocene) and the undated granodiorite gneiss of Seitz Canyon each form a mapped sheet in the core or along the upper limb of the Lamoille Canyon fold nappe. Their shapes mimic that of the nappe (Howard, 1966, 1980; MacCready and others, 1997). Younger, less voluminous intrusions are biotite monzogranite (Oligocene, 29 Ma) and the youngest intrusive rock, basalt dikes (Miocene)
