I'd agree with you on that -- beware of fraudsters & anything is possible. But it seems you go beyond the wisdom of being wary to feeling there's nothing wrong with throwing out accusations about people.
I think anyone's foolish not to have some level of wariness on the internet. I don't think throwing out accusations is fair (in terms of respect for fellow human beings. of course, everyone has the right to express their thoughts.) Bottom line is that we all want to know the truth. Does throwing out accusations help get you there? It seems to me it has more potential for harm than for good.
(of course, if there's evidence for accusations, that's another story.)
