But what kind of peace are we talking about? Look how President Mohamed Morsi of Egypt sent you a personal letter in July and then denied writing it.

Why does that matter? President Morsi has to answer a great many questions inside his own party. I was surprised not by his denial but rather by the fact that he sent me the letter. The whole matter shows me that Morsi, like any leader taking office, faces tough dilemmas. It is very easy to play the role of the abiding Muslim when you are not in power, but things get complicated when you are. Take, for example, the Egyptian economy, which relies heavily on tourism. If they don’t allow tourists to come and spend their vacations the way they like, they won’t come. No bikini, no tourism.

I feel the same way that you do .. please, tell me, What Muslim in the ME hasn't said some such thing as Morsi did? ... at one time or the other ... OR several times .. ? ... . Morsi is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood ... as Perez says: ..The whole matter shows me that Morsi, like any leader taking office, faces tough dilemmas. It is very easy to play the role of the abiding Muslim when you are not in power, but things get complicated when you are. Yes they do and they have .. I don't know if Morsi will be successful with his dreams or not. but I do know that his 'rant' against the zionist/Israel whatev's .... will not be the reason he loses his position .... it will be Egypt .. .;) Oh yes, Egypt, with all the many factions and all the ongoing corruption .. and all that ....how can he do it? .. He can't because he can't please everyone .. but .. . these comments to me are nothing ... I saw two mentions of it in two Israeli papers today they were the 'sane' papers not the lean right ones ... and they just reported it . .without hysteria ... If the Israeli's have half of Simon Perez wisdom they will do fine . .. and so will Mr. Morsi ... ;) We'll see if this explodes or not over the next two days .. It won't hurt him in Egypt or any other country over there ... so if Israel acts like a sane country ... and responds in a sane way ... then it will be fine ... but IF the radicals get hold of it .. of course their faction will milk it for all it's worth just as our radicals do here .... . oh! ...........so boring and so all the time over manufactured nonsense ... don't get me wrong .. Morsi was not clever to put this on video ... dumb that .. but after all whoever dreamed he would one day be President Morsi? .. Surely he didn't ........;)

And you are correct about the organization 'MEMRI' . .

see here. http://www.juancole.com/2004/11/intimidation-by-israeli-linked.html

then you can get the whole thing .. page after page here

http://www.juancole.com/?s=MEMRI

when you have time ... ;)

I forget but a long long time ago at least well maybe 8 or ten years ago ... we did a bunch of stuff on zeevs on 'MEMRI' .. someone there can't remember his name .. now ... . but a real xenophobic maniac posted from there all the time it was 'Muslim Hate' ... . so we finally researched the damn place .. and lo and behold .........it's reputation is good with Pamela Geller & Spencer and all those weirdos in England .. and other places in Europe where they HATE Muslims ... .. use and facilitate MEMRI, however, it's translating skills from Arabic to English and other languages SUCK! .. to say the least .... they outright lie and are known for it ...

your suspicions are well founded ..

Israeli and Palestinian peaceful coexistence, until myopic nationalism raised it's shortsighted head ..

"Lines in the Sand: Deadly Times in the West Bank and Gaza - by Andrew Cockburn" .. excerpt ..

The many peoples who have lived on this land in past ages have not always been so much at odds. A cache of letters uncovered in a cave in the Judaean desert on the southern fringe of the West Bank 40 years ago chronicles the daily life of Babatha, a second-century Jewish woman. Babatha describes Jews and Arabs coexisting without friction. Just a hundred years ago Jews, Christians, and Muslims living in Jerusalem routinely attended each other's religious festivities. That kind of harmony eroded and disappeared in the 20th century with the rise of nationalism—Jewish and Arab—in the region.

It's time again for a 'wedding' as those of just 4 generations ago .. yeah .. lots of them .. have a centenary!
