The Argentina comment:
"...his grandmother passed away..."
This is what they say when someone praises himself.
the idea is:
his grandmother alwasys praised him - she was the only one who praised him, but did it often.
Now that she's gone, he must praise himself.
They say this jokingly about someone who pats himself on the back.
My other favorite quote (which has nothing to do with anything said togay , it's just a great quote):
we say in English - he's a brown-noser, or an a$$- kisser.
They say: "....chupas medias..."
which means " he suckkks socks"!
