Well, if GS is in jeopardy, they will short or buy their way to a better position even if it means shorting their own stock to get enough cash for the deal. This is a giant chess game and they are gaming the cards in their favor every time if they can, with side deals galore on every spin of the wheel and every roll of the dice. Count on it.
