Throwing caution to the wind, (or just figuring if I am going to sleep tonight) I just killed the app and tried to log in again. I did.
And what I was just reminded of is that, on logging in since the app was again working, I get the annoying ad and TWO menus. One produces a working menu and the other just shows "loading" swirlies, but doesn't.
