I wonder if it ever occured to that fool Huckabee that the teachers and children were all probably praying for their lives on Friday.
It would seem to me a child under those circumstances can't offer up a better prayer then I just want to go home or I just want Christmas. Sounds like a couple of good prayers to me amidst the carnage.
I don't understand how a man of god (lowercase g because he's not imo.) could say such a hurtful thing in the wake of the tragedy last Friday. It's like those nuts in Kansas.
My son when he was those kids age went to a public school here in NC and God was allowed in the schools during the holidays. It was all Gods and religions that they celebrated. And I still have the artwork to prove it. lol. He even made a little kwanzaa thing that we hang on our tree every year.
From a different perspective our priest last night at the youth mass,
He said it was okay to get angry while we grieve for the children in CT. And while we rejoice in the coming birth of Jesus he reminded us that God also weeps for those children.
He also stated that he had sat down on Saturday and written letters to our 2 senators and his congressman that they must address gun violence in America.
It's one of the VERY FEW times where I have heard a Catholic priest get political. Despite what people may think Catholic priests don't use the pulpit to further a political or moral agenda. They are a little more subtle.
At the end of mass he apologized to the congregation if he had offended anyone.
Leaving church I shook his hand and told him he did a great job. It's something that needed to be said for a long time.
