We've all had a crash course in the pitfalls of offshore drilling. Potential can be huge but the find has to be a massive one to make it to production. It would take a fraction of an onshore discovery to bump us up to our past highs IMO. Also to actually get flowing production is a reality that we never figured we'd see in the JDZ.

The only unknown right now is the timelines involved. Anyone have a guess in how long after seismic we could realistically get a bit into the ground?

The potential exists for very large onshore discoveries.



And there is another thing:

The offshore JDZ had a 'potential' of 14BB, the onshore East African Rift system has a potential of 70BB (but is far larger), but...

one would assume that onshore 'prospects' and 'leads' could be determined with greater accuracy than their offshore counterparts!?!
