Here's my oversimplified answer, if that's your question -- the same type of numbers fundamental investors are able to study and figure it out. As an example, fundamental analysis would be able to figure out that the Redbox concept would be massively profitable long before it was profitable based on the numbers the first 3 Redbox machines were producing.
