While I most certainly agree with the arguments against EXPE based on valuations and most certainly think it is a better short than a long, there are a vast number stocks out there with much higher valuations and less impressive earnings and revenue growth. The tech sector in general and the chip and equipment sector in particular are virtually all selling at higher PE ratio valuations than 30 times FY2003 estimates, and they do not have 40% of the float short.
I look for EXPE to eventually be cut in half or more and the carnage will likely begin at the first sign of bad news, but with the huge short interest I think there are better candidates to target on the short side.
Just my opinion, though.
