Stephanie -- yup, that's the realpolitik now -- though I would think some very frank comments are being/have been made privately -- this kind of thing is extremely offensive -- and if/when there is a real two-state solution/deal, Israel will have to be handing the keys to at least many of these 'settlements', existing and yet to be built, right back to the Palestinians (with absolutely minimal, if indeed any, 'compensation') -- there will have to be a reckoning on these things; they are flatly illegal, and Israel will not be able, will not be able to be allowed, to keep (at least many of) them
in the meantime, it'd be quite friggin' helpful if Israel, its government, would start to behave as if it/they actually had a grip on that reality
if I were Prez (yeah, I know, AHAHAHAHAHAHA), I'd be making it very clear to Bibi that this kind of thing is a real problem and places real stress on our alliance -- not that we'd ever become open adversaries; but all that aid we keep sending year after year, . . . -- that at some point, quite possibly at least beginning to come very much into the open within my upcoming term, if they're just gonna keep on like this and not ever seriously proceed in good faith to negotiate and settle the two-state peace, they're gonna end up doing what they're doing quite by themselves
and yes, Iran's still there -- been a month or two now since the intel assessment was updated to indicate the critical point in time will come at some point next year -- my take remains the same; either Iran changes course, or it's gonna be our mission (not Israel's, their forces will be tasked with defense of Israel [{linked in} http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=81799809 and preceding {and any future following}])
