Of course. But my home desktop is running Windows Vista 64 Home Premium Edition. So I would have to buy Windows 7 64 Professional which costs $279 at Newegg if I wanted that feature.

There is Windows 7 Professional OEM but Microsoft changed the terms of the OEM license which means that I can't legally use that option. BTW, that option costs $139.99 at Newegg.

Now for $39.99, I can get the performance improvements from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and the performance improvements from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and the right to run an XP virtual machine on my system.

I would guess that the vast majority of Vista, XP and Windows 7 licenses out there are for Home or Home Premium and Microsoft is giving you the ability to get the Pro features at a very attractive price.

One other feature that I'd like from Pro is RDP which would allow me to control my desktop from an iPad.
