Well actually you're wrong on a few fronts. The first obviously is that even we recognize that deliberately murdering civilians is a war crime.

The second point concerns your "If we were to become another Germany or Japan" because you seem to have missed the memo on exactly how the helpless populations of our planet do see us.

Take stock if you will of the millions that we directly slaughtered in Southeast Asia. Throw in the half million or so educators, trade unionists and politicians murdered by our surrogates in Indonesia at the time, a campaign that earned them so much admiration here, since in the words of our General Maxwell Taylor, they had "taken care of their communist problem".

Think about the millions of peasants killed in Central and South America under Somoza, Duarte, Pinochet et al... all of whose modern day SS troops were trained in "counter insurgency" at our vaunted "School of the Americas".

Think about the 1.5 million Gazans who just "started a war" with Israel.. Their harbor is bombed out, their coast and borders blockaded to the point where even their fishing boats are fired upon. Their hospitals are unsupplied, their children malnourished, their sick and dying denied access to medicine or travel for treatment, their water and sewage treatment plants destroyed by bombs. How does this not resemble a modern day Warsaw Ghetto or just a plain old concentration camp?

And of course the other Palestinians are slowly being strangled and pushed into smaller and smaller waterless hells in the West Bank... And they're not launching rockets although God knows why not. There fate is sealed just as surely as if they were. Apparently all people have a right to self defense... except them of course. Perhaps they don't qualify as people.

So what was the point... oh yes "If we were to become another Germany or Japan". Wow. How thick do those rose-clored glasses have to be not to see this one? Well, it doesn't matter what you see... The rest of the world may be helpless in the face of our empire, but they aren't blind.

So you feel it would be ok for someone to incinerate New York to get us to stop? Well I hope all those civilians living there have the courage of your convictions. It could get ugly.
