I don´t have much time for a thorough reply now, but let me just say that AMD will soon introduce the Athlon XP-M based on the Barton core with the well-known power-saving features, they will also (for the very first time?) introduce their first offerings for the thin-and-light commercial market which basically means they will be relatively competitive in both performance and battery life (where Centrino might have a slight advantage). With an improving infrastructure and a growing reputation, AMD is pretty well positioned to gain more market share in the mobile space.

Then again, the budget for the Centrino ad campaign is huge compared to AMD, which is not news.

I´m not qualified to comment on Transmeta´s new offerings.
