The US Army is indeed the best trained large scale fighting force on the planet. There are smaller outfits from other countries that on a selective basis are as good, but on a continental scale, nobody can match US forces for training and equipmental sophistication. This is indisputable.
Which is precisely why what is happening in Iraq is so disturbing and - ultimately - destabilizing.
