Nope, the way I understand is that a transaction only happens when an actual buyer and seller line up with each other. I haven't tried it yet but apparently if you call your broker they can even tell you what the closest bid and ask is. I'm sure someone with more detailed knowledge and experience will respond to you too to explain...
