Pretty tough to run a military, security and regionally infested terrorist clean-up operation out of embassies.

Oil is a very small part of the equation, imo.

Iraq's 1.8 million barrels of oil per day is a drop in the bucket (not a lot of money at even $40 bucks a barrel).

I think you should consider the broader issues (ie: war on terror, eradication of the tyrants/dictators, democratization and the education of an entire poputaltion that is ill informed and filled with hate, jealousy and resentment).

Currently, Israel is the only democracy in the entire region.

Just me opinion, of course.
