Company History

Frontier Logistics was formed in April of 1997 as a joint venture between the Kingsley Consulting Group, a rail advisory group, and the key managers of A&R Transport, Inc., a trucking company. The initial mission for Frontier was to provide cross-border distribution services between the United States and Mexico. This was a challenging undertaking in an emerging market. Combine this with a newly privatized Mexican Railroad system, which was then just coming to market, and Frontier had its work cut out for it. Yet, Frontier through its customer driven philosophy, rose to the challenge and implemented a wide range of services to compliment industry needs; thus providing cost effective, service oriented logistics solutions in a demanding market environment.

In 1998, Frontier signed a track-and-land lease agreement with the Texas Mexican railroad (TexMex) for the TexMex Industrial Park in Laredo, Texas. Frontier also entered into a lease agreement with United States Cold Storage for the use of multiple warehouses in the TexMex Industrial Park. Frontier then began loading bulk trucks from railcars and shipping material for several companies including Exxon, BASF, Amoco, Huntsman and Union Carbide. In our first full 12 months of operations, we loaded and pulled almost 2,000 bulk trucks to multiple customers in Mexico.

In mid 1999, a box line and an open mouth sewn bag line were purchased and placed in operation for customers such as BASF, Huntsman, and Solvay.

By January of 2000, key personnel bought out the Kingsley Consulting Group and formed Frontier Logistics, LLC as a wholly owned Limited Liability Company. A Mexico Transportation partnership was soon established with Global Transportaciones to perform all Frontier-related bulk truck deliveries intra-Mexico.

In the spring of 2000, a contract was signed with Exxon Chemical to handle packaging, trucking, and rail distribution in Mexico for all its Gulf Coast production facilities. This mass distribution center, where multiple plants supplied different materials and specifications, was the first of its kind for Exxon. In mid 2001, Frontier received an award for packaging over 90 million pounds in one year for Exxon Chemical alone.

In July, 2001, Frontier purchased all of the business and assets of A&R Packaging & Distribution Services in La Porte, Texas and by January, 2002, the management of Frontier had completely established its independence as a separate and distinct operating entity. A 12 acre adjacent container yard and corresponding heavy container lift were purchased in September of 2002, further solidifying Frontier’s strategic port related warehouse location and related activities.

In 2002, Frontier packaged over 1 billion pounds of plastic for the industry and added interstate bulk trucking to its growing list of asset based services.

In 2003, when the entire industry was at its lowest point, Frontier packaged 850 million pounds and shipped over 6,000 bulk trucks and vans within the North American continent. Frontier also won the Supplier of the Year award from BP Solvay PE in 2003.

In 2004, Frontier was awarded the contract to operate a warehouse and distribution center in Seadrift, Texas for Dow Chemical.

Our future is not in our land or our assets. These can be replicated by other industry knowledgeable personnel with sufficient capital resources. Our future will be borne out through our business philosophy, our attention to detail, our hands on management, and most of all by our entire company commitment to our customers. Let us show you how we can serve you and provide you with the best supply chain solutions.
