Sarai, mentioning that "cooking a kid in his mother's milk" (the basis for Jewish kosher laws of avoidance of eating meat and milk products together) is an abomination before god should be as offensive to all Christian here that do not separate meat and milk products. The Bible has a very similar attitude (abomination) relative to hog eatings, practiced by many Christians (and even some Jews and Muslims I know). All you cite are not "offensive" in that they cite biblical passage which some of the reader interpret literally, others do not and cogent argument on these issues can arise.
I am sure that a lot of "pro life" readers or for that matter, Christians and particularly Catholic readers would take offense in my stance that Gen 2:7 dictates that life is not imbued until the new born has taken his first independent breath. Taking offense, is one thing, being purposefully offensive is another.
We should be able to conduct a cogent argument about issues we do not agree on without getting at each other throat.
