I think you underestimate how many ill-informed people there are that vote.

When I see 15% of Republicans in NC and Ohio who believe Mitt Romney gets more credit than Barack Obama for killing Osama Bin Laden and in Ohio another 47% say they are unsure and in NC another 57% say they are unsure it say all I need to know about the Republican party.
