Last time I looked, Intel controlled 90% of the middle range of the server market.
AMD, in reordering its priorities, gave up ALL 50% of the very lucrative laptop market to take a dive to knock Intel out of 5 or 10% of the server market for what a year?
(And I might add, "take a dive for the short money" as Marlon Brando would say.)
And the desktop market is not as profitable but I would guess that Intel's share is about the same or higher than it was 5 years ago.
Intel has controlled the lap top market for 3 or 4 years now. And what does AMD do? Turion, still late and not apparently in good supply.
And by the time it is, Intel will be into a dual core, chipset, WIMAX thingy that will be the next generation of Centrino.
So your post, which I summarize as "Nah, Nah, na Nan Nah" just don't cut it, drift-wise, getting.
