And on the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, Robertson & Falwell blamed - gays, women and "vice"....

Pat Robertson, host of the 700 Club program, seemed to agree with Falwell's earlier statements in a prayer during the program.

"We have sinned against Almighty God, at the highest level of our government, we've stuck our finger in your eye," said Robertson. "The Supreme Court has insulted you over and over again, Lord. They've taken your Bible away from the schools. They've forbidden little children to pray. They've taken the knowledge of God as best they can, and organizations have come into court to take the knowledge of God out of the public square of America."

The primary problem with the movement, which is growing, is not that their ideology would tend to promote hate and violence in those of that inclination. That's problem enough, but the real threat is the aggressive, political agenda of the so-called "religious" right, and they have been successful - to a large measure. One could argue that Robertson's Christian Coalition, and similar "right" minded groups, are acting as puppet masters to the US Republican Party. How much of a threat to true Democracy they become, remains to be seen.... But they are a threat.
