Just wanted to share this communication I had with someone at the EPA regarding the proposed amendments to the "National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for the Portland Cement Manufacturing Industry"; I had initially asked if a public hearing had been held regarding these proposed changes:
Hello-
The public hearing was held on August 16th in Dallas, Texas. The record for the hearing should be uploaded to the docket the week of September 3rd, so you can go into the docket that week and see the record.
The comment period ended on August 17, but the record related to the public hearing is open until September 18th - any items pertaining to the issues raised in the public hearing that are sent to the docket by September 18th, will be considered in the rulemaking.
Once I have access to the hearing notes, I'll share those with the board. Depending on what was discussed during the hearing, it's possible that the EPA could make additional changes to the amendments which could force the industry to make adjustments to their kilns with respect to mercury emissions sooner rather than later. This may also present an opportunity for GTGP to comment on the public hearing before 9/18 and have some sort of positive impact (positive for the company AND the environment!) on the EPA ruling.
$GTGP long and strong!
