Stephanie -- it's there, very real and having very real impacts, as has been the case all along in this nation -- and it is resisted first, by being known and seen, and then, by being resisted; doesn't just go away if ignored/not even seen -- not exclusive to those on the right, but in fact heavily weighted that way these days, and they have a virtual monopoly on those, politicians and others, who act on it, to impose it, to openly discriminate and be 'free' to openly discriminate even through 'law' -- and not all on the right are racist, though many indeed are -- some are just cut from the better cloth on that level, however much they might be otherwise caught up in the delusions/Big Lies of our current right -- and others have had those direct personal life experiences that have at least taught them the folly of thinking that blacks (or whatever other 'other' group) are any less human than the rest of us; still might not like 'em much given the larger context and peer pressures and such, but at least get that those 'others' aren't any less human, and generally act with a at least a certain corresponding respect in whatever dealings they may have with such 'others'
