#6555 RE: mlsoft #6543

That was not my logic, whatsoever!!

My "logic" was specific to abortion. Here's the question, mlsoft..... If a women goes to a healthcare provider, and has a D&C or D&E, how does law enforcement determine whether the procedure was performed for "incomplete ab" (miscarriage) or elective abortion. Both terminate pregnancy, whether the pregnancy was viable or not.....

Hypothetically, (and not to be offensive, honestly) if your wife or your sister, daughter, cousin, the minister's wife, or any woman, goes to her private MD, OB/GYN, and has a D&C or D&E, does anyone other than the doctor or patient know whether the aborted fetus was living, viable or not living?

If abortion was banned in this country, how would you propose the public sector regulate or enforce the ban? What about the right of doctor patient confidentiality, specific to women and reproduction? What type of police investigative, or forensic work is done if elective abortion is suspected? How do we legislate and enforce a ban on abortion - without grossly breaching women's rights - human rights??... And if your wife, or your daughter were to suffer the loss of a pregnancy thru spontaneous abortion, would you want either to be subject to "investigation", if someone suspected abortion?.....

I know you feel strongly that abortion is wrong, and I respect you on that one. But the issue is very, very complicated on many levels.....

If you make abortion "murder" you are right, but many pro choice (and in my opinion with very solid theological backing) would take the position that an unborn fetus is not alive, at least not until it breathed his first independent breath. Other theologians would argue that a fetus is alive if he "could" live independently outside the womb (about 26/27 weeks or so). Only a minority take the position that (IMHO) is contrary to Genesis, that life starts at conception.
