Double... I heard that Mitt was not in favor of cutting the subsidies cold on Jan 1, 2012. He favors a more staged phase out. Whether he would revive the subsidies ..your guess is as good as mine.
The way I see it, it always seems like the oil companies are worldwide having the most influence on politics and also investing a lot in campaigns. As long as that happens they will do a lot to prevent Ethanol to grow too big.
Also here in the Netherlands a lot of politicians are somehow connected to Shell and almost every war is in areas where there is a lot of oil. So no doubt that politicians will try to help ethanol companies as little as possible.
