T/A's handle ALL ownership. T/A's maintain records of all shareholders, whether held in certificate form, street name or individually.

The only way significant NSS activity could occur was with the collusion of the T/A, so unless you're accusing GRNO's T/A of participating in an illegal scheme...

As for Overstock, the manipulation there was pre-Reg Sho and was done on a heavily traded stock where huge portions of the float traded on a daily basis. In that environment (pre Reg Sho) it would be easier to keep the T/A unaware of an oversupply of shares. Not so in GRNO's case, where less than 5/100ths of 1% of the shares in the float trade on a daily basis.
In fact, with the entire GRNO float valued at about a quarter of a million dollars, and less than $2500 in trades on an average day, no one would waste their time trying to make a few dollars committing a crime like naked shorting. It would be like the mob robbing a lemonade stand.
