Back Zeev, got DMC 8.91 +.78 on news: Document Security Systems, Inc. Patented Technology Recommended by AAMVA for New Secure Drivers Licenses
Thursday September 15, 10:00 am ET

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Document Security Systems, Inc. (Amex: DMC - News) announced today that its U.S. Patent # 5,454,598, called Tamper and Copy Protected Documents, contains technology which is being specified as a recommended security feature for new drivers licenses by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).

Patrick White, Chief Executive Officer and President of Document Security Systems, Inc., stated that, "We are very pleased to have the importance of this technology recognized. Microscopic Perforation technology is a highly effective security feature for assuring the integrity of vital documents. The fact that we own the exclusive U.S. patent on this counterfeit deterrent will be significant for Document Security Systems and its shareholders as we continue to build our state-of-the-art anti-counterfeiting product portfolio."

The technology involves the embedding of a pattern or array of holes or perforations into a substrate either by a laser or other process. The holes have a dual purpose. First of all, the holes are easily identified to assure a user of the documents authenticity. In addition, the holes act as a counterfeit deterrent since they are extremely hard to imitate thus creating a tamperproof secure document.

Upgrades in drivers' license designs are taking place as part of Homeland Security initiatives. The AAMVA recently issued a report outlining Microscopic Perforation technology as a level one feature. Document Security Systems, Inc. owns 100% of the only U.S. patent for such technology.

Any interested vendors should contact Philip Sinopoli, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing.
