Not necessarily, and that was not my point....

that if they are correct, Christianity is wrong and all those who have literally given their lives for it have been fools.

But if one bases faith entirely on a literal interpretation of a contemporary version of the NT, one might be somewhat misguided...

As humans we can not fathom an infinite God, or that is my opinion. Personally, I think it does not matter with which brand of Judeo-Christianity one affiliates, because both provide a path to moral living - and therefore "afterlife", what ever "afterlife" is... Tho most on the Religious Right would beg to differ. My point is, what's the point of basing ALL on the "literal" Word, if the literal Word can not be authenticated?...

Personally, I don't think it matters if the Bible has been altered thru history because I think enough substance remains to enable moral living, which was it's intent, imo. But again, some on the Right would beg to differ, I'm sure.....

mlsoft, You said, "To answer your question, the simple answer is that if they are correct, Christianity is wrong and all those who have literally given their lives for it have been fools"
To believe and live the basic tenets of the Christian faith, whether or not some portions have been changed slightly, is not foolish. To use the faith to terrorise others is.
