Intel has another year yet before they solve the power dissipation problem fully, but a 65nm shrink will help, and the launch of Blackford in Q1 with Dempsey will help close the performance gap. Sun are experts at exaggerating benefits, and I think most of the industry realizes that. Just look at how they used SPECfp, the most exploitable benchmark, in almost all of their comparisons in the video. It's kind of laughable that they didn't just aim conservatively and use a benchmark that enterprises actually care about. But Sun was just being Sun, and people will look at the claims, some will see the value, but many will remain loyal to Dell.
