Maybe CJ is a cooperating witness in an ongoing investigation? At any rate, I don't think it's a done deal that the company will not be held liable. I don't buy the several week lagtime to correct this alleged mistake.
In the eyes of the law, the employer is always responsible for the actions of the employee. Anyone who doesn't believe this can Google "respondeat superior" and see for themselves.
