DT, you are right, there is no confirmation of the court officially right now.
Many times, attorneys agree that something will be dismissed at a certain point in the future if there is no other 'bad' incident before that time. In such cases, the case remains officially 'open' and can be postponed until a much later date, when in reality no action will be taken on it by either side, as per the agreement between the attorneys, during that time, until the dismissal is made official at that later time.
Other times, a case could be postponed to a later date and again remains officially open, the reason is to give attorneys on either side time to file the official dismissal, agree to it, and for a judge to review and agree to it officially. So the 'tacit' agreement for a dismissal between them, doesn't become 'official' until many weeks or months later, after all the docs are filed and agreed to.
Either of these things could be happening, making JB and ATL truthful while still showing that you are right that there has been no 'official' dismissal -- yet.
