Probably true. It's a line frequently repeated by past French politicians (after Louise XV) who spent all their lives climbing to the top, only to realize how limited real power is even when one is theoretically the supreme commander (just because all subordinates have their own brains, indulging in all sorts of corruptions while pretending to obey bureaucratic orders). The implication of that helpless exclaimation is that "I can't care less after I die." Louise XV lived a very debauched and short life. DeGaulle probably only repeated that statement when he was old enough to escape the consequences of his policies. Louise XVI was too young (because his predecessor Louise XV died early) and was still alive when the mob came for his head.

The retirement plan for the supreme king is death.

Help me understand this............JNJ buys some company named Synthes for 19.7 BILLION dollars and says it adds 3 to 5 cents of earnings for 2012 EPS. How long till they earn back the 19.7 BILLION purchase price?????????????????????

J&J receives U.S. approval for $19.7B Synthes acquisition. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) expects to close its $19.7B purchase of Synthes tomorrow after receiving the all clear from U.S. regulators. A J&J subsidiary initiated around $12.9B in accelerated buyback agreements to help finance the cash-and-stock acquisition. The Synthes deal will add $0.03-0.05 to 2012 EPS, a turnaround from a prior forecast for a $0.22 reduction.
