While I'm no fan of how the war has been conducted in Iraq, the cost of a small regional war can not compare to what's been dreamed up and/or what will be dreamed up as domestic programs. Wars eventually end, domestic programs only grow bigger.

You need to check your numbers. $80B was the supplementals for Iraq. And we've done it more than once. lol.

Senior administration officials said the White House will
seek an approximately $80 billion supplement for the 2006 fiscal year, in addition to the planned annual budget to be released February 7.

Speaking at a background briefing January 25, the officials said the vast majority of these funds, approximately $75 billion, would fund Department of Defense operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, in addition to $25 billion already earmarked in the 2005 budget.
