You are missing my point altogether. A lot of people stay loyal for a long time but some eventually throw in the towel and sell. Some might get squeezed for money and decide to sell. Suppose they did sell and they do miss the back-dated Record Date. You can't say - tough luck guys !! Had they known the spin-off was coming they would not have sold when they did. AND THESE WERE FAITHFUL LOYAL SHAREHOLDERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So your viewpoint does not hold water. And it's a moot point anyhow because the S E C isn't going to allow it.
