Trading out of a position that is up (whether into a DD or just another new position) will ALWAYS give you more leverage to the new position than trading out of a stock that is down.
You might want to trade out of a stock that is down just to stop the bleeding, but the "parlay" play is to roll your winners into a bigger position in the new stock.
Unless of course you are KiK. In that case everything just goes up right off the bat, and he just freezes them once he thinks he can coast in...
