Hi Annie! I'm all into cutting down on the feed store bill. The clowns who write investing articles that claim inflation is under control, obviously don't buy feed from the store. In fact, where they live, it must be totally different than where I've been.
Thanks for the idea about zuchinni. For some reason? I never thought of that. Zuchinni grows very well in my soil, as long as I can keep the squash bugs away. I've got nasturtiums surrounding them this year. We'll see how it turns out?
We are dry as a bone in West-Central Illinois right now. I have 50 tomato plants put out. I've found that I can keep them hydrated enough to produce, by using gallon milk jugs to water them. I put a small hole in the bottom of the milk jug with a sharp pointed drywall screw. Fill the jugs with water and place it right at the base of the plant. It works well, it also keeps the gardener in shape when he goes nuts with his plants. I've been digging up volunteer plants today and placing them in empty spots in the garden. How can a person ever get too many tomatoes?
I hope you are doing well. Thanks for the suggestions and great advice!
