Team Energy – Developer Team Energy management understands and is capitalizing on the growing potential of biomethane as a renewable, low-emission fuel for fleet vehicles. Team Energy was formed to develop and produce biomethane energy resources from landfills and other organic waste facilities. Team Energy is currently building a landfill gas processing facility in St. Cloud, FL that will produce renewable CNG for use in fleet owner’s vehicles. Team Energy is actively pursuing additional opportunities to develop biomethane production sites and acquire biomethane from the natural gas pipeline for sale as a vehicle fuel to its customers.
St. Cloud Landfill Environmental Benefits Processing 536,000 standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of landfill gas are approximately equal to any one of the following: Removing GHG emissions of 8,200 cars Planting 10,240 acres of pine or fir forests Avoiding CO2 emissions from > 104,000 barrels of oil consumption Avoiding CO2 emissions from > 5,080,000 gallons of gasoline consumption Note: the above benefits were calculated using the U.S. EPA’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) LFG Benefits Calculator. The calculator is available for download at: http://www.epa.gov/landfill/res/lfge_benefitscalc.xls
Natural Gas – America’s Future for Energy Independence CNG – Team Energy’s Future Natural gas is found in reservoirs deep below the earth's surface and ocean floors. Natural gas is also found in landfills. Natural gas is formed by the decay of organic matter. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is of the cleanest burning alternative fuels available. Fleet owners can reduce fuel costs significantly by using CNG. Depending on pricing in a local market, fleet owners could save as much as $1.50 or more per gallon over gasoline or diesel prices. According to a June 2008 study, North America could switch all their vehicles to run on natural gas and have a 120-year supply. There are more than 13 million NGVs worldwide, and only about 112,000 on U.S. roads today. North America produces 98% of the natural gas it consumes every year. Increasing the use of NGVs reduces our dependence on foreign oil and enhances our nation's energy security.
CNG Benefits Safety - Lighter-than-air compressed natural gas is nontoxic and disperses quickly. It has a higher ignition temperature than gasoline and diesel fuel, which reduces the chances of accidental ignition. Noise Reduction - Natural gas engines can reduce noise by as much as 50% compared to diesel engines. Renewable - Renewable natural gas—also known as biomethane or biogas—is a model alternative fuel. We produce this renewable gas from animal and crop waste, sewage and garbage. Turning waste into energy, brilliant. The only question to ask now is – what took us so long? The Future for the Trucking Industry - Trucking fleets across the United States are looking for ways to cut costs and be more competitive. The benefits of using natural gas are now obvious. Some fleets are motivated by fuel savings and price stability. Some support the goal of reducing our dependence on imported oil. All natural gas fleet owners enjoy the environmental and sustainability benefits of this cleaner, abundant American resource. Team Energy is registered with the Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP) is a voluntary assistance program that helps to reduce methane emissions from landfills by encouraging the recovery and beneficial use of landfill gas (LFG) as an energy resource. LFG contains methane, a potent greenhouse gas that can be captured and used to fuel power plants, manufacturing facilities, vehicles, homes, and more. By joining LMOP, companies, state agencies, organizations, landfills, and communities gain access to a vast network of industry experts and practitioners, as well as to various technical and marketing resources that can help with LFG energy project development. LMOP forms partnerships with communities, landfill owners, utilities, power marketers, states, project developers, tribes, and nonprofit organizations to overcome barriers to project development by helping them access project feasibility, find financing, and market the benefits of project development to the community. EPA launched LMOP to encourage productive use of this resource as part of the United States' commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
LMOP provides services such as: · Technical assistance, guidance materials, and software to assess a potential project's economic feasibility. · Assistance in creating partnerships and locating financing for projects. · Informational materials to help educate the community and the local media about the benefits of LFG energy. · Networking opportunities with peers and LFG energy experts to allow communities to share challenges and successes.
Connection to UCF Team Energy Inc. has been chosen as one of the inaugural businesses to set up an office at the brand new UCF Business Incubator in St. Cloud, FL. The goal of the UCF Business Incubation Program (UCFBIP) and its community partners is to facilitate smarter, faster startup and growth of emerging companies so those companies will become financially successful, high growth companies in the community. UCFBIP clients are provided an array of business development services and resources to help accelerate growth. The formal incubation process takes place through a series of strategic and tactical working sessions. The strategic sessions are designed to help define the company business, market and capital strategies and to build the business plan.
Regular education and networking programs also are designed to address the shared needs identified among UCFBIP clients.
Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering As a St. Cloud Incubation Member, Team Energy has received a commitment from the University of Central Florida Department of Engineering to assist in any capacity to fulfill Team Energy’s obligations for this project. We view this participation as a significant opportunity that benefits UCF by providing hands on engineering and construction management experience. Team Energy and the project will benefit as recipients of current methods and techniques in these arenas advanced and developed in academia. For more information please continue to browse our website.
