Well... since their interests seem to be those of big oil, I have stopped predicting what this criminal and clueless administration would do anymore. Your guess is as good as mine. I would think finding a way to avoid killing 1/2 a million innocent people and still reaching the goal of disarmament would be a good thing but this bunch seem to have a totally different agenda on their minds.

If Saddam is as clever as some say, he should jump at the chance. Get UN troops in Iraq to protect the country against the Americans. A beautiful solution from his point of view. His prestige would rise in the Arab world at holding the Americans at bay, Bush would have to accept humiliation or attack the UN, and Saddam could probably escape with his position and life. All it will cost is a loss of weapons that could never accomplish as much.

From the UN's point of view, the Iraqi problem is muted, the US hawks are shrouded, and Bush is relegated to a single term.
Sounds like a win-win situation for the World including the US.

Please, Saddam, you despot, see this opportunity.
