Mama?
Women have 10% of the testosterone that men have - it's not possible for them to "get too muscular" unless they weight train hours a day, eat tons of foods and take supplements like steroids, or unless they have the compact body of a gymnast and no, taking protein shakes is not going to make a woman too muscular at all. I used to weight train two hours a day, 3 days a week for nearly 10 years and never got "too muscular". Was very toned and fit but not at all bulky, even when I was able to go up to 600 lbs on the vertical leg press and bench press up to 75 lbs.
I really wish that misconception be put to rest for once and for all. Drives me nuts. I used to be a personal trainer at the YMCA and all my female clients would say they wanted my legs or my delts but would blanch if they were told to lift something heavier than those foamy pastel coloured 2 lb weights because they didn't want to "get too muscular". It was like "look at me! I lift 10x more weight than you do and do I look "bulky"? for pete's sakes, even Marilyn Monroe lifted heavier weights than you do."
If you want to take protein shakes as meal replacements to cut down on calories as part of your weight loss, go for it but no, it's not going to make you too bulky, ESPECIALLY if you're female.
